November 2018

November more of a relaxed month with earlier evenings, drizzle and so fewer but well wrapped up passengers

Much of our efforts went into preparing Santa’s grotto for our visitors on the 3 Sundays before Christmas. The first Sunday is also shared with Brogdale’s Christmas Fair, the following 2 being the 19th and 16th and then we close down until Spring 2019

As a reminder for £3.50 per child and £1.50 per adult there’s a ride from the station to the South Pole (where the railway tigers are) and then back to the station followed by a careful shunt to the North Pole for a visit to Santa with all the trimmings

In addition to the Grotto which has now been decked out with tinsel, lights (and heating), the Christmas gnomes (usually 10 in all) have moved into their forest next to the engine pit in the depot

In addition to our Christmas preparations efforts have been put into maintaining the locomotive and rolling stock and endlessly clearing all leaves off the tracks

As ever DIYers, engineers, signalmen, guards/drivers are more than welcome to join our Railway Society. We offer equal opportunities to anyone over 16 and so if anyone would like to see what we can offer then contact us via our website to arrange a tour of the railway estate- or just visit on a Sunday and take it from there
