First a Happy New Year to our readers and hope to see you all when the Railway reopens in (late) March- see our Home page for details.
The Railway Cat (the glossy coated tabby usually asleep in the Ticket Office) also sends its regards.
Decembers Santa Express was a great success with lots of kids getting to see Santa in his fairly magic grotto.
January and February are usually quiet times of the year but this month theres been a lot of activity at the station. A new siding complete with points has been built, old track renewed and point and signal rodding refurbished. Reroofing of the ticket office and signal box is nearly completed.
Work is proceeding on the recently acquired green carriage and Bertie the electric engine is having its drive cogs replaced. The promise is that Mogul, our new steam engine (a 2-6-0 apparently) is to be delivered quite soon once it has passed its boiler test. We reckon it will really put our small gauge railway on the map.
New volunteer staff are always welcome. Come down to Brogdale on Wednesdays or Sundays (11am-4pm) and make yourself known to staff and see if the Railway is for you. Free tea constantly available!
