December Sundays were given over to our Father Christmas Specials. These involved a wintry ride to the South Pole and from there a return to Brogdale Central and then a slow train to the North Pole passing by the magic gnome forest to finally meet up with Santa and his elves in their nice warm grotto
Our first Sunday with the Brogdale Christmas Fair was frantic, with long family queues to get a seat on the two Santa Special trains we were running. It didn’t even rain! Fortunately nearly everyone got to see Santa who finally finished- in the dark- about 5.30. Our other two Sundays were a bit quieter, with most families coming in the mornings with the afternoons generally more relaxed.
Our thanks go to all our visitors for their patience, to our volunteers for volunteering, and to Santa for being his cheerful gift-giving self. Everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves which is the most important thing
Other than preparing for Santa there’s not much to mention by way of PW or engineering this month
The Railway is now closed for the winter and should be reopening, weather permitting, on the first Sunday March 2019. Check this/our website for further details
Although closed to the public there is a deal of maintenance and development to do- such as replacing sleepers, upgrading signals, metal bashing, and with any luck, extending platforms at Brogdale Central
As usual DIYers, engineers, signalmen, guards/drivers are more than welcome to join our Railway Society. We offer equal opportunities to anyone over 16 and so if anyone would like to see what we can offer then contact us via our website to arrange a tour of the railway estate- or just visit on a Sunday and take it from there
